Steve Angstmann - CEO, Co-Founder, and Director
Before being promoted to CEO, Mr. Angstmann served as CTO and co-founder of Kinetic Pressure Control for 6 years. Before co-founding Kinetic Pressure Control, Mr. Angstmann spent the beginning of his career working in various roles for one of the leading offshore drilling engineering consultancy firms (formally ModuSpec Engineering now part of Lloyds Register Energy). During this time, Mr. Angstmann worked with key oilfield companies including, Chevron, ExxonMobil, BHP, Shell, Diamond Offshore, Transocean etc. Mr. Angstmann’s work included development of management systems, detailed design of drilling vessels and systems, auditing, project management and BOP recertification.
Following his time with ModuSpec, Mr. Angstmann went on to become a Project Manager on Diamond Offshore’s US$2.7 Billion new build 6th generation Drillships project (4 x Drillships). This project was Diamond Offshore’s first ultra-deepwater drillship construction project and was completed in May, 2015.
Mr. Angstmann received his Bachelor of Engineering Degree (Hons) in Petroleum Engineering from the University of New South Wales. Mr. Angstmann is also a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
Billy Gallagher - COO, Co-Founder, & Director
Before being promoted to COO, Billy served as VP of Product Development and co-founder of Kinetic Pressure Control. He has lead the successful engineering efforts for all of Kinetic’s product line development. Before co-founding Kinetic Pressure Control, Mr. Gallagher served as an officer in the Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Corps. During this time, Mr. Gallagher specialized in the management of complex weapon system integration, test and evaluation, and electronic warfare programs.
Mr Gallagher was extensively involved with the strategic improvement of the Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter weapon system, providing technical advice up to the 2-star General level and briefed the Australian Minister of Defence on successful projects. Mr Gallagher successfully managed multi million-dollar portfolio of projects.
Mr. Gallagher received his Bachelor of Engineering Degree (Honors) in Mechanical Engineering from the Queensland University of Technology and Masters in Project Management from the University of New South Wales. Mr. Gallagher is also a graduate of the Royal Military College – Duntroon and a Member with Engineers Australia.
James Moreton - CFO
Before joining Kinetic Pressure Control, Mr. Moreton worked as a Vice President at Moelis & Company in the Energy Investment Banking Group. While at Moelis, Mr. Moreton worked on a variety of M&A, restructuring & recapitalization and capital raise transactions. Mr. Moreton worked at Moelis for seven years, joining as an Analyst. Prior to joining Moelis & Company, Mr. Moreton was an Analyst at Royal Bank of Canada in the Energy Investment Banking Group.
Mr. Moreton graduated summa cum laude from Southern Methodist University with a BBA in Finance from the Cox School of Business and a BS in Management Science from the Lyle School of Engineering.
Kevin Schmidt - VP Operations
Before joining Kinetic Pressure Control, Mr. Schmidt spent 13 years working in major capital projects for ExxonMobil Development Company. He was responsible for planning and executing various components of multi-billion dollar oil and gas projects all over the world with complex contracting and execution strategies.
During this time Mr. Schmidt played a major role in the execution and delivery of company critical capital projects in the Middle East, North America, Asia and Europe. He was recognized as a company leader in Commissioning, Mechanical Completion and overall project execution. His most recent project, a $15 billion offshore platform yielded a company best practice on efficiency and uptime during startup and successfully concluded after 9 years with an industry leading safety record.
Mr. Schmidt grew up in Aurora, CO and attended University at the Colorado School of Mines, earning an Engineering Degree with honors and a minor in Business & Economics.
Reese Jones - VP Business Development
Mr. Jones has been a member of Kinetic Pressure Control’s executive leadership team since August 2018. Before joining the Kinetic Pressure Control team, Mr. Jones spent 13 years in various customer facing roles of increasing responsibility within Caterpillar Oil & Gas. He was responsible for marketing, distribution administration and customer service, direct sales for complex projects, and indirect marketing with major accounts.
During this time, Mr. Jones was Territory Manager for Caterpillar Oil & Gas during their successful bids for the power generation equipment supply scope for 12 of the 29 SeteBrasil Drilling Rig Unit new build rig projects, managed the overall oil & gas customer service process for Latin America, introduced new technologies and service products into the gas compression industry in Latin America, and drove a reorganization of one of the largest Cat dealerships from a geographical structure to a dedicated oil & gas industry focused customer service organization.
Mr. Jones grew up in Midland, TX, lived in Mexico and Brazil; and has traveled globally developing a broad set of contacts and relationships in key oil and gas geographies. He holds a BBA in Finance with honors from the University of Texas at Austin.
Colin Moir - Director of Business Development - North Sea
Throughout his career, Colin has been involved in a number of industry-first technology development and deployment initiatives, PM on numerous multi-million dollar Drilling unit upgrades for MNSL, 1st team to run Subsea XT’s remotely using an AHV, Director and innovator for 1st company in the world to pump OBM drill cuttings to a vessel and unload at process facility, involved in SEPLA anchor design and deployment for EMDC, Deepwater advisor for Angola and SME for Nigeria on SS systems, numerous Operational pre-installed mooring systems for conventional 4th gen semisubmersibles in Deepwater, part of Mobil R & D review team, development of BOP guidelines for Oil & Gas UK, extensive Mgmt system development capability including Geothermal industry. Development of software solution ‘Well Secured’ for LR optimising BOP configurations for well projects. Currently over 42 years of industry experience, primarily in Offshore Deepwater Well Operations support also as Drilling Supervisor, Technical manager for Intermoor UK, extensive Operations supervisory and management experience globally since 1980, numerous years with Oil majors, Scottish company of the year finalist as Director, recognised general problem solver and SME in BOP systems, Wellhead & Well control planning.
Colin has experience in all aspects of Drilling systems technology, rig bid specifications and assessments for international deployment, extensive logistical knowledge and remote operations development, extensive Subsea experience with numerous Operators on international projects . Colins most recent position is a BOP / Wellhead / abandonment SME for Vysus Group (previously Lloyds Register) including development of and provision of Well – Secured support service for clients.
Colin has previously provided a working relationship as industry expert with both Aberdeen University and RGIT (Aberdeen) and holds an HND in Farm Management, Livestock & machinery.
Ken Dupal - Senior Advisor
Throughout his career, Ken has been involved in a number of industry-first technology development and deployment initiatives, including pre-installed mooring systems for ultradeepwater semisubmersibles, development of the Subsea BOP test ram, the large bore wellhead/18” casing system, solid expandable tubulars for deepwater wells, an HPHT (15 ksi, 400 degF) capping stack, and real-time subsea BOP control system data acquisition & analytics. He has over 40 years of industry experience, primarily in deepwater Well Engineering. This includes 33 years with Shell International Exploration and Production, and 7 years as VP Engineering for ExPert E&P Consulting. His career includes a wide range of well engineering, well operations, supervision, and management positions, for domestic and international activity.
Ken has experience in technology development and implementation for deepwater well design and operations. Ken’s most recent position, prior to retirement, was Engineering Manager of DW Wells Process Safety, which included responsibilities for Well Control, Emergency response, Rig construction/project support, BOP reliability, and HPHT equipment.
Ken has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering from Penn State University
Melvyn F. (Mel) Whitby - Senior Advisor
Mel Whitby has over 52 years of engineering experience, including 40 years of experience in the oilfield industry, with extensive knowledge in research and development, engineering, and operations management. Mel recently retired from a leading major Drilling Systems provider, where he previously held the positions of Director of Research and Development and subsequently the Director of Industry and Regulatory Affairs. Mel is a named inventor on 25 US Patents and multiple International Patents.
Since 2010, due to his involvement as a subject matter expert with the Gulf Oil spill, Mel has been heavily involved in the Industry efforts as a member of the Joint Industry Task Force. As Chairman of API Sub-Committee 16 (Drill Through Equipment), Mel participated in the re-write of Standard 53 (was RP-53) and the revision and writing of multiple API specifications.
Cliff Mangano - Senior Advisor
Dr. Mangano has worked in and advised the oil and gas industry for over 30 years through his executive positions in various oil and gas companies, government and as a consultant in the world’s largest accounting firms and as an independent consultant. He specializes in assisting companies to implement market driven corporate intangible property, and financial structures incorporating the long-term market trends through strategic planning, process implementations, and post implementation key performance indicators.
Prior to joining Kinetic, Cliff worked for Diamond Offshore, PWC, KPMG, IRS, Saudi Aramco in Dhahran, KSA, and the Navajo Nation. He has modeled company process and economic drivers, advised on major financial and tax restructurings, and managed economic and transfer pricing practices/groups. His primary focus in on economic drivers, value creation and appropriate returns.
Cliff has lived and worked in various Latin American countries and Saudi Arabia. He earned a Ph.D. from the University of Arizona in Mineral Economics from the College of Engineering. He has a Masters and Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Florida.

David Keddington - Director
David Keddington is Vice President, Global Supply Chain, of Transocean Ltd. Before being named to his current position in 2018, Mr. Keddington served as Managing Director, Global Supply Chain. Since joining Transocean in 2006, Mr. Keddington has held leadership roles of increasing responsibility in Corporate Planning, Marketing and Finance. Mr. Keddington has worked for Transocean in several geographic locations across the world including Switzerland, Egypt, and Malaysia.
Mr. Keddington received a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Utah and a Master in Business Administration from the Harvard Business School.
Hossam Elbadawy - Director
Mr. Elbadawy is Managing Director and Technology Partner at SCF Partners. Prior to joining SCF, Hossam founded O&G Technologies, a Houston based technology incubator focused on the oil and gas industry. He has over 24 years’ experience in the energy sector, technology development, and commercialization. Hossam has served as Senior Operating Partner at Lime Rock Partners and as CEO of Tercel Oilfield Products, which was acquired in May 2016. Prior to these roles, Hossam spent nearly 17 years at Schlumberger where he served as Vice President of Manufacturing as well as managed the company’s leading-edge Rosharon Technology Center and the Houston Product Center.
Hossam received an MBA and Masters in Engineering from Northwestern University and a Bachelor’s degree from Ain Shams University, Egypt.
Joe Bekker - Director
Mr. Bekker, founded Thrustmaster of Texas, Inc. in 1984 and serves as its President. Mr. Bekker has detailed firsthand experience in building an extremely successful global offshore/marine manufacturing company from the ground up, which has been based in Houston for over 30 years. Mr. Bekker is a member of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME). He is a Graduate of the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands, holding a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Daniel West - Observer to the Board of Directors
After growing up in the Houston area and studying economics at Harvard College, Dan trained as an infantry officer in the United States Marine Corps. As a platoon commander with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit aboard the USS Mesa Verde, he led the Tactical Recovery of Aircraft and Personnel force in support of the NATO aerial campaign over Libya. He then served as executive officer of India Company, 3rd Battalion, 9th Marines as it mentored Afghan forces to assume lead security responsibility and executed counter-narcotics missions in Marjah, Helmand Province, Afghanistan.
Dan graduated with honors from Harvard Business School and Harvard Law School, where he served as an editor of the Harvard Law Review and taught undergraduate economics courses. Following experience in consulting and finance and a legal clerkship on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, Dan joined SCF Partners in 2018. He is responsible for evaluating new investment opportunities and providing strategic growth assistance to our partners.
